Master's thesis defences (Sept. 2026)

Aurembiaix and Andrés have sucessfully defended their master's theses (Photonics Master & Erasmus Mundus Europhotonics). Congratulations!

DALMATA begins (Sept. 2026)

Our group has received a Proyectos de Generación de Conocimiento research grant for the next 3 years! This will fund our project DALMATA (Dynamical Assembly of Large Many-body arrays with Trapped Atoms). We will develop novel techniques to assemble large arrays of neutral atoms, and explore applications in quantum metrology, quantum optics and quantum simulation.

The grant comes with a fully funded PhD fellowship, so we are looking for a PhD student to start in early 2027. If you are interested get in touch with Toni!

Visit from Simon Hollerith (July 2026)

Simon Hollerith has visited our lab and given an invited seminar on the recent results on atom arrays from his postdoc at Harvard University.

Leonardo grant  (June 2026)

Our lab has received the Leonardo grant from Fundación BBVA! It will fund the QUMATO project (Quantum Motion Control in Atomic Arrays). For more details check the news article from the ICCUB website. 

Lab renovations are finalized (May 2026)

After months of construction and renovation works, the new lab space is finally ready!
